bubble_chart Etymology

"Zu" (足), foot; "wuli" (五里), five miles. This point is located on the inner side of thigh, approximately five cun above Jimen (SP11). To distinguish it from the homonymous acupoint on upper limb (Shouwuli (LI13)) of hand yangming large intestine meridian, Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing added "Zu" (足, foot). It is also known as "Guwuli", where "Gu" (股) refers to thigh.

At the root of inner thigh, below pubic tubercle, three cun directly below Qichong (ST30), in the depression on outer edge of adductor longus muscle.

  • Muscles: adductor longus, adductor brevis.
  • Nerve: superficial and deep branches of obturator nerve.
  • Vessel: superficial branch of medial femoral artery.

Perpendicular insertion 1 to 2 cun. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 5 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Classical: abdominal fullness, bloody defecation, lower abdominal pain, difficulty in urination, damp and itchy scrotum, pain in inner thigh, lethargy, wind fatigue, inability to lift limbs.
  • Modern: inguinal lymphadenitis, leukorrhea.
