This product is the twigs of Cassia Bark (Cinnamomum cassia Presl), an evergreen tree of the Lauraceae family. Mainly produced in Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan provinces. The young branches are often cut in spring, dried in the sun or shade, and sliced ​​or cut into sections.

[Indications]

  1. For wind-cold common cold. This product is pungent, sweet and warm, and it is sweet and warm to promote yang and support the body. Therefore, it can help protect the body, promote sweating, release flesh, and dissipate wind-cold externally. For treating wind-cold exterior excess without sweating, it is often used with Ephedra to open ventilating lung qi and diffuse wind-cold, such as Ephedra Decoction. For those with exterior deficiency sweating, it should be used with Peony Root to harmonize nutrient and defensive aspects, sweat and release flesh, such as Cinnamon Twig Decoction.
  2. It is used for various pain syndromes caused by cold coagulation and blood stagnation. This product has the effect of warming and unblocking meridians and vessels, dissipating cold to relieve pain. For example, if chest yang is weak, heart pulse is blocked, chest impediment, it is often used together with Immature Orange Fruit and Longstamen Onion Bulb, such as Immature Orange Fruit, Longstamen Onion Bulb, and Cinnamon Twig Decoction; if the middle energizer is cold and the epigastrium is cold pain, it can be used together with Peony Root and maltose, such as Minor Center-Fortifying Decoction; if blood cold stasis, amenorrhea abdominal pain, it is often used together with Chinese Angelica and Evodia Fruit. Such as Meridian-Warming Decoction, if wind-cold-dampness impediment, shoulder and arm pain, can be used together with Aconite Lateral Root, such as Cinnamon Twig and Aconite Decoction.
  3. For phlegm-fluid retention, fluid retention syndrome/pattern. This product is sweet and warm, helps yang transform qi, and eliminates the evil of phlegm-fluid retention due to water-dampness. Such as spleen yang, bad luck, phlegm-fluid retention, dizziness and palpitations, often used together with Poria and White Atractylodes Rhizome, such as Poria, Cinnamon Twig, Bighead Atractylodes and Licorice Decoction; if bladder qi transformation does not work and edema has trouble urinating, it can be used with Polyporus and Alisma, such as Five Ingredients with Poria Powder.
  4. For palpitation. This product is pungent, sweet and warm in nature. It can warm the heart yang, unblock the blood vessels and stop palpitations. This product contains volatile oil, the main components of which are cassia bark aldehydes, etc.

  • Cinnamon Twig decoction has cooling and antipyretic effects, and has inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus albus, disease caused by cold bacilli, common pathogenic skin fungi, and influenza viruses.
