bubble_chart Modern Pharmacology

The main component of this product is ephedrine, and it contains a small amount of pseudoephedrine, volatile oils, etc.

  • The effects of ephedrine on the cardiovascular system are similar to those of adrenaline, but the duration of its effects is 7 to 10 times longer than that of adrenaline. It can increase myocardial contractility and cardiac output, as well as increase blood flow to the heart, brain, and muscles.
  • Both ephedrine and pseudoephedrine can relieve bronchial smooth muscle spasms. The effect of ephedrine in relaxing bronchial smooth muscle is weaker than that of adrenaline, but its effects last longer. When used as eye drops (topical application), it has a mydriatic effect.
  • Ephedra volatile oil has a diaphoretic effect. Ephedrine can increase and accelerate sweat gland secretion in people in high-temperature environments, but animal experiments have not confirmed that ephedrine alone can induce sweating.
  • Ephedra volatile oil emulsion has an antipyretic effect.
  • Pseudoephedrine has a significant diuretic effect.
  • Ephedrine can stimulate the heart, constrict blood vessels, and raise blood pressure. It has a significant stimulant effect on the central nervous system, which can cause excitement, insomnia, and restlessness.
  • Volatile oils have an inhibitory effect on influenza viruses.
