"Lieque", refers to lightning. Han Shu‧Yang Xiong Zhuan Ying Shao's note: "Lieque, also known as the electric light in the sky." The point is located between the bone seam behind the styloid process of the radius at the wrist, and it is also the branch point of handtaiyin meridian, hence the name. Huangdi Neijing Taisu Yang Shang-shan note: "This point branches off from the main channel, which is why it is called 'que' (缺, deficiency). It is located at the place where the main channel is deficient, hence it is named 'Liexue'."

On the radial side of the forearm, above the radial styloid process, 1.5 cun above the wrist crease, located between the brachioradialis and the tendon of the extensor pollicis longus.

  • LingshuJingmai: "1.5 cun above the wrist, it branches off to the yangming channel."
  • Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing : "Cross the hands, and locate the space between the tendons and bones at the tip of the index finger."
  • Zhenjing Zhinan: "Between the high bone ridge behind the wrist";
  • Zhenjiu Fengyuan: "1.5 cun above the posterior side of the wrist."

  • Muscle: between the brachioradialis tendon and the abductor pollicis longus tendon, with the extensor carpi radialis longus tendon on the outside.
  • Nerve: Mixed branch of lateral cutaneous nerve of forearm and superficial branch of radial nerve.
  • Vessels: cephalic vein, radial artery, venous branches.

  • Modern: diabetes, hematuria, proteinuria, rhinitis, laryngitis, neurogenic headache, trigeminal neuralgia, teeth clenching, hoarseness, urticaria, stiff neck, stenosing tenosynovitis of the radial bone base, soft tissue injury of the wrist.
