"Shui" (水), water or fluid; "fen" (分), to separate or distribute. This point is located 1 cun above umbilicus and is associated with small intestine, which functions to "separate clear from turbid" and regulate water metabolism. Zhenjiu Zisheng Jing: "This point is also called 'Fenshui' (分水) because it can separate water and grains."

  • Muscle: in linea alba of abdomen. The deep layer is small intestine.
  • Nerve: medial branches of anterior cutaneous branch of 8th and 9th intercostal nerves.
  • Vessels: inferior epigastric artery and vein.

Perpendicular insertion 1~1.5 cun. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 7 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 15 to 20 minutes.
