"Xia" (下), lower; "wan" (脘), stomach or gastric cavity. This point is located near the lower part of stomach, hence the name.

On the midline of upper abdomen, 2 cun above umbilicus, at the midpoint between Zhongwan (CV12) and umbilicus.

  • Muscles: in linea alba of abdominal; deep layer is transverse colon.
  • Nerve: medial branch of anterior cutaneous branch of 8th intercostal nerve.
  • Vessel: junction of branches of the superior and inferior epigastric arteries.

Perpendicular insertion 1~1.5 cun. Moxibustion with moxa cone 3 to 7 times, moxibustion with moxa stick for 15 to 20 minutes.
