"Jiao" (交), intersection or meeting; "xin" (信) refers to foot taiyin spleen meridian, as spleen is associated with the earth element, and "earth virtue is trust" (Leijing Tuyi-Wuxing Tonglun). The qi of foot shaoyin kidney meridian intersects here with foot taiyin spleen meridian at Sanyinjiao (SP6), hence the name. Located anterior to the medial side of Achilles tendon, it is also known by the alternate name "Neijin" (内筋, inner tendon).
