[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: posterior part of deltoid muscle, deep layer is infraspinatus muscle.
  • Nerve: The superficial layer is the branches of the posterior branch of the supraclavicular nerve and the branches of the lateral brachial cutaneous nerve and axillary nerve from the axillary nerve. The deep layer is the suprascapular nerve.
  • Vessels: posterior circumflex humeral artery and vein, deep layer is suprascapular artery and vein.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion or oblique insertion 1 to 2 inches slightly forward and downward. If it penetrates deeply into the medial edge of the humeral neck, it can reach the axillary nerve and the lower part of the brachial plexus; if it penetrates forward and upward, there will be suprascapular nerve and suprascapular nerve near the scapular notch. If the artery and vein are obliquely inserted outward (on the outside of the humerus), there are branches of the axillary nerve; if they are oblique inserted downward (on the inside of the humerus), they can reach the vicinity of the radial nerve. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 7 weeks, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

[Efficacy]

  • Classical: Hanre, shoulder and arm pain, unable to lift, arm soreness and weakness, shoulder swelling causing pain in the blade, and shin pain.
  • Modern: upper limb paralysis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, mastitis.

[Recipe]

  • Upper limb paralysis: Jianyu (LI15), Naoshu (SI10), Quchi (LI11).
  • Breast swelling and pain: Tanzhong (CV17), Naoshu (SI10).
