[Origin]

Shao, small; Shang, one of the five notes (Gong, Shang, Jiao, Zheng, Yu), belongs to the same metal as the lungs. The acupuncture point belongs to hand great yin lung meridian (LU), located at the end of the limb, and the meridian qi is small, hence the name.

• Lingshu‧Benshu: "The inner side of the big finger of the hand",
• Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing added: "The nails are removed like leek leaves" ;
• Waitai Miyao: "On the outer edge of the thumbnail of the hand, there is a leek leaf with white flesh in the middle."
• Zhenjiu Jicheng: "The angle of the nail is about three minutes away from the flesh, and is perpendicular to the head of the first horizontal stripe." It is the 1-minute depression behind the radial corner of the thumb nail profile.

[Anatomy]

• Nerve: The anastomotic branch of the first dorsal digital nerve branched from the superficial branch of the radial nerve and the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, the terminal network of the proper digital nerve on the palmar side of the median nerve, and the superficial tactile corpuscles are abundant.
• Blood vessels: Refers to the arterial and venous network formed by the proper palmar artery and the radial vein.

• Modern: epidemic common cold, acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, mumps, diphtheria, whooping cough, chronic bronchitis (acute stage of attack), epistaxis, syncope, shock, malposition of fetus, schizophrenia.
