bubble_chart Etymology
Ball, eyeball. This acupoint is located deeper, behind the eyeball, hence the name Qiuhou (EX-HN7).
bubble_chart Location
Qiuhou (EX-HN7) acupoint
(adapted from "Meridians and Acupoints")
On the face, at the junction of outer 1/4 and inner 3/4 of the infraorbital rim. When selecting acupoints, the patient sits upright and leans back, gently closing his eyes.
bubble_chart Anatomy
Below the lower tarsus; in the orbicularis oculi muscle, there are facial artery and vein in the superficial layer; zygomatic branch of facial nerve and infraorbital nerve; ophthalmic nerve in deep layer; nodular ganglion and optic nerve at the orbital apex.
bubble_chart Manipulation
Insert the needle along the infraorbital rim, from the outside to the inside, and slowly perpendicular insertion 1.5 to 2 cun toward the optic foramen. When the deep puncture encounters resistance, you should back off a little, change the direction, and then puncture again to avoid bleeding or eyeball injury. When obtaining qi, you may feel soreness or protrusion of the eyeball. Moxibustion is prohibited.
bubble_chart Efficacy
Optic neuritis, optic atrophy, myopia, glaucoma, retinal artery and vein obstruction, retinal membrane pigmentary degeneration, central serous membrane inflammation, abnormal color vision.
