"Han" (頷), temporal part; "yan" (厭), pressing. When chewing, pressing this area produces a sensation of movement, similar to the meaning of "yan" in "Biyan" (GB30, 髀厭).

On the upper part of temple hairline, at upper one-fourth point of curved line connecting Touwei (ST8) and Qubin (GB7) along hairline, 0.5 cun behind hairline.

  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "On the upper edge of temple, at the curved corner";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "Note: 'Curved corner' is consistent in various texts, except one version writes 'curved angle' (see Suwen-Qifu Lun Wang Bing's note). The text states 'reaching the angle,' so the curved corner should refer to the curved area of temple where hairline protrudes forward."
  • Yixue Rumen: "Outside forehead angle, opposite ear"
