bubble_chart Formula Principles

This formula is the Warming and Clearing Decoction, enhanced with ingredients that disperse wind-heat, thus it has the effects of harmonizing blood, soothing the liver, and clearing liver heat, and can treat excess heat. It is particularly effective for fire-heat pattern in the liver and gallbladder meridians. The formula heavily uses Bupleurum for its liver-soothing properties and to guide other herbs into the liver meridian; it employs Four Ingredients Decoction to nourish blood and emolliate the liver, where Prepared Rehmannia Root is used instead of Unprocessed Rehmannia Root for its stronger heat-clearing effect. Additionally, Coptis Detoxification Decoction is used to clear heat and remove toxins, treating all types of fire-heat syndromes; Mentha, Forsythia, Great Burdock Achene, and Platycodon Root disperse wind and clear heat, remove toxins, and benefit the throat; Trichosanthes Seed clears heat and resolves phlegm, moistens the intestines to relieve constipation. When these herbs are combined, they collectively achieve the effects of clearing the liver and removing toxins, dispersing wind, and eliminating heat.
