bubble_chart Etymology

"Wei" (維), corner or connection; "dao" (道), pathway. The point is located on the lateral side of waist, where it is connected and maintained by belt vessel. It is also close to Bishu (GB30), hence another name "Waishu" (外樞, outer pivot).

On the abdomen, in the depression anterior and inferior to the anterior superior iliac spine, 0.5 cun anterior and inferior to Wushu (GB27), opposite the inguinal region.
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "5.3 cun below Zhangmen (LR13)";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "Alternatively, 2.5 cun above Juliao (GB29)";
  • Leijing Tuyi: "8.5 cun lateral to Zhongji (CV3)";
  • Zhenjiu Jicheng: "Directly below Zhangmen (LR13), 7 cun down." These can be used as references for locating the point.
