"Tai" (太), greatness or abundance; "xi" (溪), stream or river. The qi of foot shaoyin kidney meridian emerges from sole of foot, passes through Rangu (KI2), and then flows into a great stream, where it corresponds to the pulsation of artery, hence the name.
