bubble_chart Etymology

"Jing" (京), tall or prominent; "gu" (骨), bone. "Jinggu" refers to the prominent tuberosity of fifth metatarsal bone. The point is located below it, hence the name.

On the lateral side of foot, below the tuberosity of fifth metatarsal bone, at the junction of red and white skin. It is located at midpoint of the line connecting tip of little toe and posterior edge of heel.
  • LingshuBenshu: "Below the large bone on lateral side of foot";
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing adds: "In the depression at the junction of red and white skin";
  • Zhenjiu Juying: "The large bone behind little toe is called Jinggu (京骨), and its point is under the bone";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian : "Measure from little toe to heel, take the midpoint";
  • Zhenjiu Jicheng: "3 cun in front of Shenmai (BL62)".

  • Classical: pain at top of head, chills and fever, red eyes, corneal opacity, canthus ulcers, vertigo, nasal congestion, epistaxis, manic and depressive psychosis, stiff neck, lower back pain with inability to bend or straighten, abdominal fullness, diarrhea, heart pain, hip joint pain, cold feet, knee pain, foot cramps, palpitations, beriberi due to cold-dampness, dry and cracked feet or itchy.
  • Modern: acute lumbar sprain, stiff neck, myocarditis, pleurisy.
