One of the confluence points of eight extraordinary meridians, connected to Yang Qi. Suwen‧Qixue Lun Wang Bing's note: "born of Yang Qi".

[Origin]

Shen, stretch; pulse, tendons. This point treats unfavorable flexion and extension of the tendons, hence its name. Also, the acupoint belongs to foot greater yang bladder meridian (BL). This meridian belongs to the "Shen" position, hence the name.

On the outside of the foot, in the depression directly below the lateral ankle.
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "For those with subtracted lateral ankles, claw nails are allowed";

  • Classical: Lumbago, shin cold, head wind, headache, palpitations, tinnitus, epistaxis, chest fullness, spontaneous sweating, red eyes, numbness in hands and feet, breast blowing, deafness, madness, leprosy, retained placenta, vertigo, redness and swelling of athlete's foot, apoplexy, hemiplegia, crooked mouth and eyes.
  • Modern: encephalomyelitis, Meniere's syndrome, schizophrenia, ankle arthralgia.
