"Gu" (谷), valley depression. The dorsum of wrist belongs to "Yang" (陽), and the point is located in the depression on ulnar side of dorsum of wrist, hence its name.

• Modern: ulnar neuralgia, epilepsy, injury to carpal triangular cartilage disc.
