"Zu" (足), foot;"tong" (通), to connect or pass through; "gu" (谷), valley. The point is located near prominence of joint, similar to Qiangu (SI2) and Rangu (KI2), hence the name. To distinguish it from the point of the same name on foot shaoyin kidney meridian (Futonggu (KI20)) in abdomen, Zhenjiu Daquan adds the prefix "foot" (足).

On lateral side of foot, in the depression at the junction of red and white skin, in front of the joint of little toe (fifth metatarsophalangeal joint).
