Medicated Leaven (herbal decoction pieces)
This product is a processed product made by mixing flour with other medicinal substances and undergoing fermentation. It is produced throughout the country. The preparation method involves mixing flour or bran with Bitter Apricot Seed paste, Rice Bean powder, fresh Sweet Wormwood, fresh Xanthium, and fresh Polygonum hydropiper natural juice, adjusting the mixture to the right moisture level, forming it into small pieces, placing them in a basket, covering with hemp or mulberry leaves, and maintaining warmth for a week of fermentation. When yellow mycelium appears, the pieces are removed, cut into small pieces, and dried in the sun. It can be used raw or stir-fried.
Medicated Leaven has another variety known as Jianqu, also called Quanzhou Medicated Leaven, Fan Zhi Qu, or Lao Fan Zhi Medicated Leaven. It is made from wheat flour, bran, Perilla Leaf, Schizonepeta, Saposhnikovia Root, Magnolia Bark, White Atractylodes Rhizome, Aucklandia Root, Immature Orange Fruit, green tangerine peel, and dozens of other medicinal substances through specialized fermentation, mainly produced in Quanzhou, Fujian. It has a bitter and slightly warm nature. Its effects of promoting digestion and resolving accumulation are similar to Medicated Leaven, and it also has the ability to move qi and resolve dampness, strengthen the spleen, and harmonize the middle. It is particularly effective in treating summerheat dampness diarrhea and vomiting with loss of appetite. The usage and dosage are the same as for Medicated Leaven.

It can be used in combination with hawthorn fruit, Germinated Barley, Aucklandia Root, and others. Additionally, this product slightly possesses the function of releasing the exterior, making it particularly suitable for cases of external contraction with food stagnation. Furthermore, for any pills containing mineral or shell-based ingredients, this product can be used as a flour and water paste pill to aid digestion.
