bubble_chart Overview

Gynecomastia refers to the enlargement of male breasts. It is mostly unilateral but can also be bilateral, commonly seen in middle-aged or elderly men, and can also occur during adolescence. The condition may be related to testicular hypoplasia or impaired inactivation of estrogen in the liver.

bubble_chart Diagnosis

  1. Breast distending pain or tender masses, firm, with clear boundaries of the masses, not adhering to the skin or pectoral muscles.
  2. Adolescent breast hypertrophy often resolves spontaneously within a short period. Generally, no treatment is required. For those with significant symptoms, hypertrophic breast tissue can be excised, preserving the nipple and skin.
