bubble_chart Overview Gynecomastia refers to the enlargement of male breasts. It is mostly unilateral but can also be bilateral, commonly seen in middle-aged or elderly men, and can also occur during adolescence. The condition may be related to testicular hypoplasia or impaired inactivation of estrogen in the liver.
bubble_chart Diagnosis
- Breast distending pain or tender masses, firm, with clear boundaries of the masses, not adhering to the skin or pectoral muscles.
- Adolescent breast hypertrophy often resolves spontaneously within a short period. Generally, no treatment is required. For those with significant symptoms, hypertrophic breast tissue can be excised, preserving the nipple and skin.
