bubble_chart Formula Principles

In the formula, Ginseng powerfully tonifies primordial qi, Prepared Rehmannia Root and Chinese Angelica enrich yin and replenish blood. Ginseng paired with Prepared Rehmannia Root forms Jingyue's Liangyi Gao, which is excellent for treating severe deficiency of essential qi. Barbary Wolfberry Fruit and Cornus officinalis tonify the liver and kidneys, Eucommia Bark warms kidney yang, and Liquorice Root assists in tonification and harmonizes the various herbs. The combination of these herbs greatly tonifies the true essence, tonifies qi, and nourishes blood. Therefore, Jingyue once referred to this formula as the "primary essential formula for rescuing the root and cultivating the origin."

bubble_chart Formula Modification

For those with insufficient primordial yang and a predominance of cold, add Aconite Lateral Root, Cassia Bark, and Blast-Fried Ginger; for those with a deficiency in the qi aspect, add Astragalus Root and White Atractylodes Rhizome, but if appetite stagnation is present, these should not be used; for those with blood stagnation, add Sichuan Lovage Rhizome and remove Asiatic Cornelian Cherry Fruit; for those with efflux diarrhea, add Wuwei and Gupi (dried fruit of the Chinese wolfberry).
