In the formula, Ginseng powerfully tonifies primordial qi, Prepared Rehmannia Root and Chinese Angelica enrich yin and replenish blood. Ginseng paired with Prepared Rehmannia Root forms Jingyue's Liangyi Gao, which is excellent for treating severe deficiency of essential qi. Barbary Wolfberry Fruit and Cornus officinalis tonify the liver and kidneys, Eucommia Bark warms kidney yang, and Liquorice Root assists in tonification and harmonizes the various herbs. The combination of these herbs greatly tonifies the true essence, tonifies qi, and nourishes blood. Therefore, Jingyue once referred to this formula as the "primary essential formula for rescuing the root and cultivating the origin."
