This prescription is suitable for syndromes of yin deficiency and excessive ministerial fire. In the formula, Unprocessed Rehmannia Root and Prepared Rehmannia Root enrich yin and nourish the kidney's yin; Er Dong (Ophiopogon and Liriope) enriches yin and clears the lung, moisturizing dryness, and also nourishes the yin of the lung and kidney; Chinese Angelica and Peony Root nourish blood and regulate blood; Anemarrhena and Phelloendron Bark reduce the rising deficient fire; most of the above herbs are sweet and moist, which may hinder the spleen and stomach's transformation, hence the combination of medicinals White Atractylodes Rhizome, Liquorice Root, Ginger, and Jujube strengthens the spleen and harmonizes the middle to prevent the greasy herbs from affecting the stomach.
