bubble_chart Efficacy

Clearing heat and promoting fluid production, alleviating consumptive thirst and relieving restlessness.

bubble_chart Indications

Excessive Yangming heat, dry mouth and throat, intense thirst with a desire to drink, flushed face, aversion to heat, profuse sweating, and a pulse that is surging and powerful or slippery and rapid.

bubble_chart Formula Principles

This formula treats external contraction of cold pathogens that have transformed into heat upon entering the interior, or warm pathogens that have transmitted to the qi aspect, resulting in an excess heat pattern. In the formula, Gypsum, which is pungent, sweet, and of Great Cold nature (24th solar term), can clear and drain lung and stomach heat, while also releasing the flesh and penetrating heat, allowing the heat in the lung and stomach to be dissipated both internally and externally. Anemarrhena assists Gypsum in clearing and draining excess heat from the lung and stomach. Although its nature is bitter, pungent, and cold, it is moistening and does not cause dryness. The combination of these two medicinals mutually reinforces their effects, significantly enhancing their ability to resolve depression and discharge heat. Liquorice Root and rice benefit the stomach and promote fluid production, ensuring that the Great Cold (24th solar term) nature of the formula does not harm the stomach.
