bubble_chart Description Wang Xugao (1798-1862), given name Tailin, courtesy name Yixing, and later known by the sobriquet Tuishen Jushi, was a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu. He studied medicine for many years under his maternal uncle Gao Jinting and fully inherited his teachings. Initially engaged in surgery, he later specialized in internal medicine, particularly focusing on warm diseases, and was highly precise in diagnosis and medication. Wang's representative academic work is Xixi Shuwu Ye Hua Lu, which, unfortunately, was mostly lost after its completion, with only thirty methods for treating liver diseases remaining. Wang was prolific in his writings, and later generations compiled his Tuishen Ji Lei Fang Ge Zhu, Yifang Zhengzhi Huibian Ge Kuo, Yifang Ge Kuo, Xue's Shi Re Lun Ge Jue, Yifang Ge Jue, along with Xixi Shuwu Ye Hua Lu, into a collection titled Wangxugao Yishu Liuzhong. He authored Yixue Chuyan, and his disciple Fang Gengxia (Renyuan) collected and edited his medical cases, publishing Wang Xugao Yi'an in four volumes in 1879.
