The author initially practiced medicine specializing in ulcer diseases, later focused on internal medicine, adept at modifying ancient prescriptions, achieving immediate effects in clinical practice, and attracted an increasing number of patients, thus specializing in internal medicine. He authored numerous works in his lifetime, including "Xi Xi Shu Wu Ye Hua Lu", "Yi Fang Ge Jue Chuan Jie", "Huan Xi Cao Tang Yi An", "Yi Xue Chu Yan", "Xuan Fang Yue Zhu", "Cold-Damage Disease 113 Fang Ge Jue", etc. After his death, his works were collected and compiled by Lu Jin-sheng, Zhou Xiao-nong, and others, edited into "Wang Xu Gao Yi Shu Liu Zhong", and published. This collection includes "Tui Si Ji Lei Fang Ge Zhu", which is not divided into volumes. "Yi Fang Zhi Hui Bian Ge Jue", in 1 volume. "Zeng Ding Yi Fang Ge Jue", in 1 volume. "Yi Fang Ge Kuo", in 1 volume. "Xue Shi Shi Re Lun Ge Jue", in 1 volume. "Xi Xi Shu Wu Ye Hua Lu", in 1 volume.
"Wang Xu Gao Yi Jia Liu Zhong" is rich in content, concise and comprehensive, easy to understand, and convenient for memorization. Among them, "Tui Si Ji Lei Fang Ge Zhu" is divided into 24 categories, each category divided into prescription, song, and annotation, totaling 259 prescription songs, including 148 from Zhong Jing and 111 from later generations. "Yi Fang Zhi Hui Bian Ge Jue" compiles 150 commonly used formulas, using a method of compiling similar formulas, turning the composition of drugs, main treatments, and modifications into song form, with annotations in each song, detailing the origin, evolution, dosage form, and quantity of the formula, along with the author's comments.
"Yi Fang Ge Kuo" and "Zeng Ding Yi Fang Ge Jue", the former is not categorized, containing 171 prescriptions, based on Xu Ling-tai's "Lan Tai Gui Fan" for general treatment; the latter is divided into four categories: tonifying, diaphoretic, purgative, and harmonizing, totaling 26 prescriptions. "Xue Shi Shi Re Lun Ge Jue" is the author's adaptation of Xue Xue's "Shi Re Lun" into song form. "Xi Xi Shu Wu Ye Hua Lu" compiles Wang's systematic discussions on liver disease treatment, providing certain reference value for clinical practice.
