Qing Dynasty Xue Xue (Sheng Bai) authored. Xue (1681-1770) was a contemporary of Ye Tian-shi, both being great masters of warm disease, with a particular focus on the in-depth study of damp-heat warm disease. This book specifically discusses the pathogenesis and diagnostic outline of damp Rebing syndrome. He analyzed that damp Rebing syndrome "is a co-occurrence of taiyin and yangming diseases." He proposed that "taiyin internal injury, dampness and fluid retention, and external pathogenic factors lead to mutual induction and thus cause disease." He clarified that the core of damp-heat disease lies in the spleen and stomach, and treatment must distinguish the relative severity of dampness and heat, while carefully observing the strength of the body's healthy qi to determine the treatment principles and prescriptions. Later generations often followed his methods in treating damp-heat warm disease. Xue also elaborated on the treatment of damp Rebing syndrome presenting with stuffiness and syncope, damp-heat with food stagnation, injury to the nutrient system and stirring of wind, and residual pathogenic factors after illness, as well as the importance of tongue inspection in damp Rebing syndrome, which should be combined with pattern identification to determine treatment methods. He expounded on Xue's unique insights. Shire Tiaobian was published in the 11th year of Daoguang (1831), and the existing editions include the original print, other Qing Dynasty prints (Wang Meng-ying Wenre Jingwei also included Xue's work in its compilation), and various modern editions.
