From the center of the supraclavicular fossa to the midpoint of the medial end of the clavicle. When selecting acupoints, the patient lies on his back with his head turned to the opposite side. The acupoints are selected one cun above the clavicle on the outer edge of the clavicle head of the sternocleidomastoid muscle.
bubble_chart Anatomy
It has the sternocleidomastoid muscle; the branches of the lateral cervical artery and vein; and the brachial plexus.
bubble_chart Manipulation
The perpendicular insertion is 0.3 to 0.8 cun, based on the numbness and electric shock-like sensation spreading from the arm to the fingers. The direction of needle insertion should be straight, but can be slightly backward. Do not oblique insertion downwards, and should not be inserted deeply to avoid damaging the lung apex.
