This product is the root of Chinese Angelica (Angelica pubescens Maxim. f. biserrata Shan et Yuan), a perennial herbaceous plant of the Umbelliferae family. Mainly produced in Sichuan, Hubei, Anhui and other places. Excavate in late autumn or early spring. Dry. Slice and use raw.
Notopterygium and Pubescent Angelica were not distinguished in ancient times. Benjing calls Pubescent Angelica a Notopterygium, so Benjing and Bielu only have Pubescent Angelica but no Notopterygium. Since Tao Hong-jing first said, "Notopterygium is thin and knotty in shape...the breath is very strong...Pubescent Angelica is slightly white in color and weak in shape..." it was gradually used in later generations. The two have similar effects. However, Notopterygium has a strong qi and tends to induce sweating to release exterior moisture; Pubescent Angelica has a lighter qi and tends to dispelling wind.

- For wind-cold-dampness impediment pain. Its dispelling wind can remove dampness, dispel cold and relieve numbness, and can be used for all wind-cold-dampness impediment. It is better to choose the one with good nature and downward movement, especially those with severe cold-dampness in the joints of waist, knees, legs and feet. Treats migratory impediment, often used synonymously with Aconite Lateral Root, Aconite Mother Root, Saposhnikovia Root, such as Qianjin Fang Pubescent Angelica wine; if kidney qi deficiency is weak, cold paralysis, weakness and pain caused by wind and cold, etc., it is often associated with Chinese Taxillus Herb and Eucommia Bark , Saposhnikovia Root are equivalent, such as Qianjin Fang Pubescent Angelica and Taxillus Decoction.
- Used for external contraction wind-cold and exterior syndrome/pattern. It induces sweating to release exterior, disperses wind and dispels dampness, and is often used with Notopterygium, Saposhnikovia Root, Schizonepeta, etc., such as Schizonepeta and Saposhnikovia Toxin-Vanquishing Powder.

Pubescent Angelica contains volatile oil, Chinese Angelica alcohol, Chinese Angelica element, finger citron lactone, etc. This product has anti-arthritic, analgesic, sedative and hypnotic effects, can directly dilate blood vessels, lower blood pressure, and excites the respiratory center.
Contains furanocoumarins:
