This product is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family Atractylodes Rhizome (Mao Shu, South Atractylodes Rhizome) (Atractylodes lancea (Thunb.) DC.) or Northern Atractylodes Rhizome (A. chinensis (DC.) Rhizome of Koidz). The former is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Hubei, Henan and other places. The one produced in Maoshan, Jiangsu has the best quality, hence the name Atractylodes Rhizome. The latter is mainly produced in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Liaoning and other places. Excavate in spring and autumn, remove soil and residual stems, and dry in the sun. Moisten it with water or rice and slice into slices, then stir-fry until slightly brown.

Atractylodes Rhizome, Benjing can only be said to be "art", but there is no distinction between pale and white. Tao Hong-jing pointed out that there are two types of surgery: White Atractylodes Rhizome and Red Surgery. Red Surgery is Atractylodes Rhizome. Often combined with Magnolia Bark, Dried Tangerine Peel and other medicinals, such as Stomach-Calming Powder; if dampness-heat, dampness warm For disease syndrome, it can be used together with heat-clearing medicinal to resolving dampness; for phlegm-fluid retention or dampness-overflowing edema, it can also be used.
2. For wind-dampness impediment diseases. Because it is pungent, bitter and dry, good at removing dampness, it is especially suitable for people with dampness-impediment diseases. This product contains volatile oil. The main component of the oil is a mixed crystal of Atractylodes Rhizome alcohol and Atractyl alcohol. The volatile oil contained in it has a sedative effect at a small dose and hyperreflexia of the spinal cord, while it has an inhibitory effect at a large dose.
