This product is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family Atractylodes Rhizome (Mao Shu, South Atractylodes Rhizome) (Atractylodes lancea (Thunb.) DC.) or Northern Atractylodes Rhizome (A. chinensis (DC.) Rhizome of Koidz). The former is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Hubei, Henan and other places. The one produced in Maoshan, Jiangsu has the best quality, hence the name Atractylodes Rhizome. The latter is mainly produced in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Liaoning and other places. Excavate in spring and autumn, remove soil and residual stems, and dry in the sun. Moisten it with water or rice and slice into slices, then stir-fry until slightly brown.

This product contains volatile oil. The main component of the oil is a mixed crystal of Atractylodes Rhizome alcohol and Atractyl alcohol.
