This prescription is suitable for patients with long-standing lung abscess and gradual decline of qi and blood. In the prescription, Platycodon Root ventilates the lung and resolves phlegm, expels pus, and eliminates abscesses. When used together with Liquorice Root, it forms the Platycodon Decoction from "Jingui Yaolue," which has the effects of dispelling phlegm, expelling pus, clearing heat, and removing toxins. Additionally, Trichosanthis Fruit, Fritillaria Bulb, White Mulberry Root-Bark, and Bitter Apricot Seed are used to clear the lung and resolve phlegm, regulate qi and widen the chest, disperse nodules and eliminate abscesses, and moisten the intestines to relieve constipation. Astragalus Root tonifies qi, raises yang, and promotes tissue regeneration. Chinese Angelica nourishes blood, regulates blood circulation, reduces swelling to relieve pain, and expels pus to promote tissue regeneration. Lily Bulb moistens the lung and relieves cough. Submature Bitter Orange moves qi and disperses phlegm. Coix Seed and Stephania Tetrandra clear heat to drain pus and promote urination to reduce swelling.
