[Indications]

syndrome/pattern of warm dryness attacking the lung. Headache: body heat, dry cough: wheezing without phlegm and qi counterflow, dry mouth and thirst, dry nose and throat, dry tongue without coating, weak and rapid pulse.

[Prescription]

This prescription is suitable for symptoms of warm dryness that damages the lungs and Qi and Yin. The climate in autumn is dry, dryness-heat damages the lung, and the lung is being related to skin and body hair, so the headache causes body heat, the lungs become hot, and both Qi and Yin are damaged, losing their normal function of clearing, moistening, and descending, so dry cough has no phlegm. qi counterflow means wheezing, dry throat, thirst means dry nose; SuwenZhizhenyao Da Lun says: "All qi that are strong and depressed belong to the lungs." The lung qi does not fall, so the chest and diaphragm are full and stuffy. Treatment should be to clear dryness-heat, nourish qi and yin, and use clear gold to protect the lungs. Mulberry Leaf is used heavily in the prescription. It is light in nature and cold in nature. It clears away the evil of dryness-heat in the lungs and is a sovereign medicinal product. warm dryness offends the lungs, domination of dryness causing dry symptoms should be used to moisten the lungs, so use gypsum which is pungent and sweet but cold, clearing lung heat; Ophiopogon Tuber Sweet and cold, nourishing yin and moistening lung, together are minister medicinal. Nan Jing ﹒ "The Fourteenth Difficulty" says: "What damages the lungs benefits the qi", and the stomach earth is the mother of lung metal, so Liquorice Root banking up earth to generate metal, Ginseng benefits stomach fluid and nourishes lung qi; Hemp Seed, Donkey-hide Gelatin nourishes yin and moistening lung, and if the lungs are moistened, it will cure the disease; SuwenCangqi Fashi Lun said: "The lungs are bitter rising of qi ni, eat quickly to relieve the bitterness", so use Bitter Apricot Seed and loquat leaf reduces lung qi, and the above are all assistant medicinal. Liquorice Root can be used to reconcile various medicines. This prescription is suitable for pneumonia, lung subcutaneous node, bronchial asthma, acute and chronic bronchitis, lung swollen, lung cancer, urticaria measles, laryngitis, etc. It belongs to dryness-heat obstruction of the lungs and damage to both Qi and Yin. In clinical practice, it can also be used for the following diseases:

  1. wind-warmth dryness-heat common cold or epidemic common cold: more common in autumn and winter, patients with headache fever, dry throat and mouth, and less dry cough phlegm, red tongue with less fluid, floating and thin pulse, use this recipe to remove Ginseng, Donkey-hide Gelatin, add Gardenia, Thunberg Fritillary Bulb, Reed Rhizome; if the fever is high, reuse gypsum, add Anemarrhena, Bamboo Leaf; if the mouth and nose are extremely dry, Add Scrophularia Root, mongolian snakegourd root clearing heat and promoting fluid production.
  2. Acute and chronic tracheitis is wind-warmth dryness-heat damaging lung: severe cough plus Fritillaria Bulb, Mongolian Snakegourd Seed; chest pain plus Curcuma Root; chronic sexually transmitted disease, severe cough and wheezing, wet rales in the lungs Together with Pepperweed and Jujube Lung-Draining Decoction.
  3. Lung subcutaneous node is deficient of both qi and yin: for cough, add Fritillaria Bulb, stemona root, and gallbladder; for cavities, add Lily Bulb, common bletilla tuber, Chinese Caterpillar Fungus, and for tidal fever, add Sweet Wormwood, Tortoise Carapace.
  4.   6. Pneumonia in children belongs to yin deficiency: Symptoms include low fever, profuse sweating, dry cough with less phlegm, peeling and dry tongue, thready pulse, and deep purple fingerprints. Use this modified and subtracted treatment.
  7. This prescription can also be used to treat infantile aphtha, bronchial hemoptysis, acute tonsillitis, periodontitis, chronic pharyngitis, epistaxis, gingival hemorrhage, etc.
