The syndrome treated by this formula is caused by the accumulation of heat in the upper and middle burners. In the formula, a large dose of Forsythia is used to clear heart and lung heat and resolve heat toxins, serving as the main herb. It is combined with Skullcap Root to clear heat and relieve chest stagnation; cape jasmine fruit to purge fire from the triple energizer and guide fire downward; Mentha and Bamboo Leaf to disperse externally and clear internally; mirabilite and Rhubarb Rhizoma to eliminate accumulated heat in the chest and diaphragm, using the Yangming meridian as the pathway to purge and thoroughly clear heat. Additionally, white honey and Liquorice Root are used to moderate the harsh purging effects and regulate the spleen and stomach. This formula can be modified to treat any syndrome characterized by intense pathogenic heat in the upper and middle burners.
