This book is a specialized ophthalmology text written by the renowned Qing dynasty physician Wu Qian, forming part of the Yizong Jinjian. Written in verse, it systematically expounds ophthalmic theory and clinical diagnosis and treatment. Its concise content facilitates memorization, making it a classic work in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) ophthalmology.

The main content is divided into two volumes: Volume 1 covers foundational ophthalmic theories (the "Five Wheels and Eight Regions" doctrine, etiology, and pathogenesis) as well as internal eye diseases (such as "Five-Wind Internal Obstruction," round opacity, ice-like opacity, etc.). Volume 2 discusses external eye diseases (48 types, including pterygium, trichiasis, pediatric eye disorders, etc.).

The book refines the "Five Wheels and Eight Regions" theory, emphasizing that "the Five Wheels pertain to the solid organs, while the Eight Regions pertain to the hollow organs." For each disease, it lists causes, symptoms, and treatments, incorporating both internal (oral herbal formulas) and external therapies (eye drops/acupuncture). It includes over a hundred prescriptions (e.g., Antelope Horn Decoction, Stone Swallow Elixir), many of which retain clinical relevance today.

As a pivotal classic in TCM ophthalmology, it holds significant guidance for clinical practice and education. The primary extant version is the 1742 Wuying Palace block-printed edition from the seventh year of the Qianlong reign.
