【Origin】
Literal meaning "Hua Tuo spine ridge edges". The point is on both sides of the spine, sandwiching the spine from both sides, hence the name Jiaji (EX-B2).
【Location】
In the back and waist, on both sides below the spinous process of the 1st thoracic vertebra to the 5th lumbar vertebra, 0.5 cun lateral to the posterior midline, there are 17 points on one side.
【Anatomy】
In the ligaments and muscles between the transverse processes. Depending on the location of the acupoint, the muscles involved are also different. It is generally divided into three layers, the superficial layer is the trapezius muscle and the latissimus dorsi rhomboids, the middle layer is the superior and inferior serratus muscles, and the deep layer is the sacrospinalis muscle and the short muscle between the transverse spinous processes. Each acupoint has a posterior branch of the spinal nerve originating from below the corresponding vertebra and its accompanying arteries and venous plexuses.
【Manipulation】
Slightly to the inside, insert the needle 0.5 to 1 cun into the thoracic vertebrae and 1 to 2 cun into the lumbar vertebrae. A numbing sensation will spread to the chest and abdomen; or tap with a plum-blossom needle. Can be used for moxibustion.
【Efficacy】
Wide adaptability. The acupoint on the upper chest treats cardiopulmonary and upper limb diseases; the acupoint on the lower chest treats gastrointestinal diseases; the acupoint on the waist treats diseases of the waist, abdomen, genitourinary system and lower limbs.

- Elderly panting: cardiodiaphragmatic interspace Fu, Dingchuan (EX-B1), Lingtai (GV10), Hua Tuo Jiaji, Zusanli (ST36).
- Sciatica: Mingmen (GV4), Ciliao (BL32), Yaoyangguan (GV3), Baihuanshu (BL30), ashi point, Hua Tuo Jiaji (waist 2~4) Shenshu (BL23), Chengfu (BL36), Yinmen (BL37).
