The depression in the temporal part of the head is commonly known as Taiyang (EX-HN5), and the point is on it, hence the name Taiyang (EX-HN5).

In the temporal part, between the tip of the eyebrow and the outer canthus, in the depression about one horizontal finger backward.

bubble_chart Anatomy

In the temporalis membrane and temporalis muscle, there are superficial temporal artery, vein, second and third branches of trigeminal nerve, and temporal branch of facial nerve.

Oblique insertion or transverse insertion 1 to 2 cun; or bleeding when pricked by a three-edged needle. Moxibustion is prohibited.
