bubble_chart Etymology

"Huan" (環) means circular, referring to buttocks; "tiao" (跳) means jumping. The point is located in the buttocks and is associated with lower limb movement, hence the name. Due to its proximity to the hip joint, it is also referred to as Kuangu (髖骨), Biyan (髀厭), Bishu (髀樞), Shuzhong (樞中), or Shuhezhong (樞合中).

In buttocks, in the depression posterior and superior to greater trochanter of femur. Lie on your side with lower leg extended and upper leg flexed. Locate the point at the junction of outer one-third of the line connecting the prominence of greater trochanter and sacral hiatus. Alternatively, it can be located at the center of the triangular area formed by connecting posterior superior iliac spine, ischial tuberosity, and the prominence of greater trochanter.

  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "Located in hip joint. Lie on your side, extend lower leg, and flex upper leg to locate it";
  • Shenying Jing >: "Located in the depression below femur".
