【Origin】
Literal meaning "elbow crevice". Liao is also used as a hole in a bone. The acupoint is in the gap of the elbow joint, hence the name.
【Location】
On the outside of the arm, when the elbow is bent, 1 inch above
Quchi (LI11), in the depression on the edge of the humerus.
- Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "Among those with low elbow bones";
- Xunjing Kaoxue Bian Supplement: "Put one or two inches above the bone into the center. One method: Quchi (LI11) One inch outside and into the center";
- Leijing Tuyi: "Merced with Tianjing (TE10), separated by one inch and four points."
【Anatomy】
- Muscles: origin of brachialis muscle, outer edge of triceps brachii.
- Nerve: dorsal cutaneous nerve of forearm. There is the radial nerve trunk in the deep layer.
- Vessel: radial accessory artery.

Bend the elbow and make a perpendicular insertion 0.5 to 1 cun toward the volar side of the humerus.
