[Origin]

The acupuncture point is next to Guanyuan (CV4), where the original qi expelling pathogens from exterior, hence the name. It can cure "women's Zigong (EX-CA1) who has been cold for a long time, unable to conceive, red and white, dripping, menstruation disorder" (see Xunjing Kaoxue Bian), so it is also known as "cervical orifice, zihu" ” (See Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing).

The lower abdomen is opened three inches below the umbilicus (Guanyuan (CV4)) five minutes apart.

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: internal and external oblique tendon membrane, transversus abdominis tendon membrane, rectus abdominis muscle. (The deep part is small intestine).
  • Nerve: Twelfth intercostal nerve.
  • Vessels: Muscular branches of inferior epigastric artery and vein.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion 0.5~1 inch. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 5 times, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

[Efficacy]

Regulates menstruation, invigorates qi and relieves diarrhea.

  • Classical: menstruation, abdominal pain, leukorrhea, Zigong (EX-CA1) deficiency and cold, sterility, condensation of turbid air in the lower jiao, persistent diarrhea, red and white dripping , pain in both flanks, rising of qi and lower back pain.
  • Modern: enteritis, urinary tract infection, dysmenorrheal, amenorrhea.
