[Origin]

Lian, edges and sides. The point is located on the edge of the radius of the forearm, just above the Xialian (LI8), hence the name. To distinguish it from Shanglian (LI9) (Shangjuxu (ST37)), Shengji Zonglu is named "hand".

On the radial side of the back of the forearm, 3 inches below the elbow crease. The last 1/4 inflection point of the line connecting Dangyang (EX-HN2) Creek and Quchi (LI11).
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "In the hand of Sanli the next inch...";
  • Xunjing Kaoxue Bian: "Quchi (LI11) is three inches below, bend your elbow to take it; if you take it straight, four inches together."

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: radial extensor carpi longus and brevis muscles; the deep layer is the supinator muscle.
  • Nerve: dorsal cutaneous nerve of the forearm, with deep branches of the radial nerve in the deep layer.
  • Vessel: Branch of radial artery.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion 0.5~inch. moxa cone moxibustion 3 ~ 5 strong, moxibustion with moxa stick 5 ~ 10 minutes.

[Efficacy]

Soothe Yangming meridian heat.

  • Classical: tremor disease headache, sore shoulders, numbness in hands and feet, wind edema, swollen knees, bowel sounds, abdominal pain, difficulty urinating, yellowish red, hemiplegia, cold bone marrow.
  • Modern: periarthritis of shoulder, hemiplegia, elbow strain.

  • Soreness and numbness of upper limbs: Jianyu (LI15), Shanglian (LI9), Hegu (LI4).
