【Origin】

Literal meaning "instep yang". Tarsus generally refers to the end of a strip. It burrows on the outer edge of the Achilles tendon, hence its name. Because the point is in front of Taiyang (EX-HN5) and behind Shaoyang, it is attached to the Yang channel, so it is also called "Fuyang" ( Suwen‧Qixue Lun Wang Bing note).

【Location】

• Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "Three inches above the outer ankle of the foot, Taiyang (EX-HN5) anterior and less After Yang, between the muscles and bones";
• Zhenjiu Jicheng: "Three inches above Kunkun";
• Taiping Shenghui Fang Written as: "Two inches above the lateral ankle, between the muscles and bones."

【Anatomy】

• Muscles: The outer edge of the Achilles tendon, and the deep layer is the flexor pollicis longus.
• Nerve: sural nerve.
• Vessel: small saphenous vein, deep layer is the terminal branch of peroneal artery.

【Manipulation】

Perpendicular insertion 0.5~1 inch. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 5 times, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

【Efficacy】

It sharpens the waist and legs and clears the head. Lingshu‧Weiqi: "The root of foot taiyang is five inches above the heel."

• Classical: The head is heavy , headache, vertigo, neck pain, lumbago, patellar pain, muscle cramp, paralysis, swelling of the outer ankle, cold-dampness, athlete's foot, sores on both feet, sores, acne, inability to lift limbs, inability to sweat due to fever, Weight, adverse qi, malaria, nosebleeds, and hemorrhoids.
• Modern: acute lumbar sprain, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia.
