[Origin]

Come together, meet. foot greater yang bladder meridian (BL) is divided into two branches on the back and thigh, and they meet at Weizhong (BL40) and go down. The acupoint is at that location, hence the name.

Behind the calf, 2 inches below the middle of the popliteal crease (Weizhong (BL40)), in the depression between the two heads of the gastrocnemius muscle, when Weizhong (BL40) on connection with Chengshan (BL57).

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: between the two heads of gastrocnemius, metatarsus muscle.
  • Nerve: medial sural cutaneous nerve, deep layer is tibial nerve.
  • Vessel: small saphenous vein, deep layer is popliteal artery and vein.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion 1~1.5 inches. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 5 times, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 5 to 10 minutes.

[Efficacy]

Benefit the waist and legs, regulate the lower jiao, and stop dripping perspiration.

  • Classical: lumbar spine pain, severe leg and knee disease, anal and vulvofemoral fever, vaginal pain, Hanre, hernia, metrorrhagia and metrostaxis, abdominal pain, diarrhea, leukorrhea, impotence.
  • Modern: Dysfunctional Zigong (EX-CA1) bleeding.
