[Origin]

Bing means to hold on, and also refers to "handle"; Feng refers to Fengmen (BL12). The point is close to Fengmen (BL12). The two points are located on the scapula, hence the name.

The scapula, in the center of the supraspinal fossa, is a depression when raises the arm. When between Quyuan (SI13) and Jugu (LI16), Tianliao (TE15) is outside and downward, straight down Tianzong (SI11).

[Anatomy]

  • Muscles: trapezius, supraspinatus.
  • Nerves: posterior branch of supraclavicular nerve, accessory nerve, suprascapular nerve.
  • Vessels: suprascapular artery and vein.

[Manipulation]

Perpendicular insertion or oblique insertion 0.5~1 inch. moxa cone moxibustion 3 to 5 times, moxa stick warm moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

[Efficacy]

  • Classical: Shoulder pain that cannot be lifted, shoulder blade pain, strong neck, striae and interstice, easy entry of wind evil, stubborn cough and phlegm.
  • Modern: cervical spondylosis, scapulohumeral periarthritis.

[Recipe]

  • Shoulder pain that cannot be lifted: Tianrong (SI17), Bingfeng (SI12).
