This product is a fossil of the ancient brachiopod Spirifer Fossil family, specifically the Chinese bow Spirifer Fossil (Cyrtospirifer sinensis (Grabau)) and its related species. It is found in Hunan, Guangxi, Sichuan, Shanxi, Jiangxi, and Hanzhong, Shaanxi. After collection, the soil is washed off and the fossil is dried in the sun.

Sweet and salty, cool, nontoxic. Act on kidney, liver and bladder meridians.
Removes dampness-heat, promotes urination, and clears eye nebula.
Treats gonorrhea, difficulty in urination, leukorrhea, hematuria, bloody stools, hemorrhoids, fistula disease, and eye nebula. Combined with White Mulberry Root-Bark, it promotes diuresis and relieves strangury; combined with Fistular Onion Stalk, it warms yang and promotes qi circulation.
For internal use: decoct in water, 1-3 qian, or grind into juice. For external use: grind with water and apply to the eyes.
