(2) Take five qian of plant soot and two liang of Sophora Flower powder. Take two qian each time with reed root soup. ("Liu Changchun's Experiential Prescriptions")
  2. To treat persistent epistaxis: Blow plant soot powder into the nose. (Gangmu)
  3. To treat bleeding from between teeth: Apply plant soot powder. ("Binhu Collection of Simple Prescriptions")
  4. To treat internal heat due to blood deficiency, and bleeding not returning to its source leading to collapse: Take one liang of aged Sophora Flower and half a liang of plant soot. Grind into powder. Take one to two qian each time with wine quenched on a red-hot steelyard weight. (Furen Liangfang)
  5. To treat massive uterine bleeding in women: Take three qian each of plant soot and baked ginger (powder), and drink with a decoction of three qian of Ginseng. (Bencao Huiyan)
  6. To treat leucorrhea in women: Take one liang of plant soot and half a liang of fragrant ink. Grind into powder, take three qian each time, wrap in a slice of pig liver, wrap in paper and roast until cooked, chew finely, and take with warm wine. (Yonglei Qianfang)
  7. To treat sudden unstoppable bleeding: Take one sheng of plant soot, five liang of Coptis Rhizome, and three liang of Sanguisorba. Grind and sieve into powder, take a square-inch spoonful with porridge, three times a day, and once at night for severe cases. (Waitai Miyao Fang)
  8. To treat intestinal bleeding and uterine bleeding: Take plant soot, Donkey-hide Gelatin, lotus rhizome node, Platycladus, Chinese Angelica, and reed root. Grind into powder, form into honeyed pills, and take with warm wine. (Sichuan Chinese Materia Medica Shuxue Pill)
  9. To treat bloody dysentery, regardless of duration: Take one liang of Coptis Rhizome (remove hairs, lightly fry), two liang of plant soot, and half a liang of Aucklandia Root. Grind finely into powder, take two qian before meals with porridge. (Shenghui Fang)
  10. To treat all types of dysentery at onset: Take three qian of plant soot, one qian of gold ink, seven fen of Pinellia, fourteen cooked Croton Fruits (grind evenly), and three qian of yellow wax. Melt with sesame oil, form into pills, take three to five or forty to fifty pills each time with ginger soup. ("Qianjiang Essential" Iron Brush Pill)
  11. To treat food accumulation and malnutrition in children: Take three qian of plant soot and one fen of Croton Fruit frost. Grind evenly, form into pills the size of mung beans with flying sieve flour paste, take one pill each time with plain water.
  12. To treat unexplained swelling and closure of the throat: Take two qian each of plant soot and white borax. Grind finely and blow into the throat.
  13. To treat mouth and tongue sores: Take two qian of plant soot, one qian of Liquorice Root, and five fen of Cassia Bark. Grind into powder and apply frequently.
