bubble_chart Modern Pharmacology
This product mainly contains arsenic trioxide (As2O3). Arsenic trioxide and arsenic agents have a protoplasmic poison-like effect, can paralyze capillaries, inhibit the activity of enzymes, cause fatty degeneration of the liver, central necrosis of liver lobules, congestion of the heart, liver, kidneys, and intestines, necrosis of epithelial cells, rice-water-like diarrhea, proteinuria, hematuria, vertigo, headache, cyanosis, syncope, lethargy, convulsions, paralysis, and even death. It is generally believed that arsenic binds to sulfhydryl enzymes, affecting their activity, thereby severely interfering with tissue metabolism and causing poisoning, so dimercaprol is used for detoxification in clinical emergency treatment. In addition, it has a strong corrosive effect on the skin and mucous membranes; it has a killing effect on malaria parasites, amoebas, and other microorganisms; long-term absorption of small amounts enhances assimilation and promotes bone marrow hematopoietic function.
