This product is the mature spores of the perennial climbing fern Lygodium Spore (Lygodium japonicum (Thunb.) Sw.) of the Lygodium Spore family. It is mainly produced in Guangdong, Zhejiang, and other regions. Harvested in autumn, dried in the sun, and used raw.

  1. Used for various types of stranguria. This product has a descending nature, effectively clears dampness-heat from the small intestine and bladder, specializes in promoting diuresis, relieving strangury, and alleviating pain, particularly effective in stopping urethral pain, making it a key medicine for treating various types of strangury and pain. For acute heat stranguria, use Lygodium Spore powder, Liquorice Root decoction to take it; for blood stranguria, combine with Achyranthes Root, amber, Small Thistle, etc.; for urolithic stranguria, combine with Chicken's Gizzard-Skin, Talc, Christina Loosestrife, etc.; for chylous stranguria, often use with Hypoglaucous Yam, Talc, etc.
  2. Used for dysuria and edema. This product can also unblock water and disperse edema, especially suitable for dampness-heat induced swelling and fullness. Often combined with Alisma, Polyporus, fourstamen stephania root, Akebia Stem, etc., to enhance the diuretic and anti-edema effects.

Lygodium Spore Vine is the whole herb of Lygodium Spore. It shares the same properties and effects as Lygodium Spore but is more effective in clearing heat and removing toxins. It is commonly used to treat heat stranguria, urolithic stranguria, and other conditions. Additionally, it can be used for abscesses, sores, mumps, and jaundice. For oral administration, use 15-80g, decocted in water. For external use, apply an appropriate amount by decocting and washing or pounding and applying.
