bubble_chart Composition

Toad venom (dissolved in wine), realgar, verdigris, stir-fried green vitriol, calomel, frankincense, myrrh, dried alum, dried snail, each 3 gm; musk, dragon's blood, cinnabar, calcined calamine, calcined gypsum, borax, rush ash, each 1.5 gm.

bubble_chart Preparation and Dosage

Grind the above ingredients into fine powder and mix well. Dissolve the toad venom in liquor to form a paste, then gradually mix it into the powdered ingredients, blending thoroughly. Dry in the sun, grind into fine powder again, and store for future use. At the initial stage of redness and swelling, apply the above ingredients mixed with liquor (or use calcined gypsum as an excipient to prepare a 30-50% toad venom mixture) to the affected area. Cover with Taiyi plaster. When the redness and swelling subside and a fissure forms between the necrotic tissue and healthy tissue, switch to a 10% toad venom mixture (i.e., 1 part of the above ingredients and 9 parts calcined gypsum). At the stage of necrotic tissue shedding, switch to a 5% toad venom mixture (i.e., 1 part of the above ingredients, 9 parts calcined gypsum, 5 parts calcined calamine, and 5 parts cuttlebone). Alternatively, use a spray device to apply the medicine to the affected areas in the mouth and throat.
