Difficult delivery is attributed to qi stagnation and static blood. During labor, there is severe pain in the lower back and abdominal distension and fullness, with intense pain upon pressure. Although uterine contractions are strong, they are irregular, and the delivery is prolonged. There is scant vaginal bleeding with dark red blood, a bluish-purple complexion, mental tension, dysphoria, restlessness, chest tightness, epigastric distension, occasional nausea and vomiting, a dark red tongue texture, and a choppy, stagnant pulse.
